Fill in the details and your QR code appears here.
Scan the code with your phone before you print it or share it. It is made on your device, and nothing you type is sent or saved anywhere.
How it works
Type the WhatsApp number with its country code (91 for India), and an optional first message.
Scan the code with a phone to check that it opens a chat with the right number.
Download the PNG or SVG and add it to your board, card, poster or website.
Ideas for using it
Print it on a shop sign for orders and questions, on a visiting card, on a flyer, or on the packaging of a product for support. Add a first message that says what the person wants, such as "Order for table 5" or "Price list please", so every chat starts with something useful.
Frequently asked questions
How do I write the number?
With the country code and without a leading zero or plus sign: for an Indian number 98765 43210, type 91 98765 43210. The page tells you if the country code is missing.
What does the first message do?
When someone scans the code, WhatsApp opens a chat with your number and the message already typed in, for example "Hello, I want to order". They only have to press send. Leave it empty to open a blank chat.
Does it work with WhatsApp Business?
Yes. The code is an ordinary wa.me chat link, which opens in WhatsApp and in WhatsApp Business alike.
Will people see my number?
Yes: the chat opens with your number, so anyone who scans the code can message it and see it. Use a number you are happy to share.
Is what I type sent or saved anywhere?
No. The QR code is drawn in your browser from what you type, and nothing is sent to a server or stored, not even in your browser. Close the tab and it is gone, so download the code before you leave.
Will the QR code expire, or stop working?
No. The code holds the information itself, so it works for as long as that information is right: a link that is still live, a Wi-Fi password that has not changed. There is no account behind it and no tracking, so it cannot be switched off.
PNG or SVG?
PNG is a picture that works everywhere: use it for documents, social media and messages. SVG stays perfectly sharp at any size, so use it for banners, boards and anything printed large. Choose the Print size for PNG if you will print it.
How big should I print it?
At least 2 by 2 centimetres, and bigger if people will scan from a distance (about one tenth of the distance). Keep the white border around the code, and print dark squares on a light background. Always scan the printed code with a phone before you use it.
What does the error correction setting do?
A QR code carries extra data so it can still be read when part of it is dirty or damaged. Higher levels survive more damage but make the code denser, with smaller squares. Medium suits almost everything; choose High for a print that may get scuffed.
